It isn't clear to me how Mail automatically decides which server (external or internal) must be used. So, the only way to connect internally and externally is to change the server's name in the field for "internal server" manually dependent on my network connection (in the office or out of office). I know that, in general, both servers work: when I write the name of the external server into the filed for the internal server and then try to connect externally, it works great. I can see this in the activity window: even when I connect externally, Mail tries to find the internal local server and, of course, runs into timeout. In my configuration, I set both servers correctly, but the problem is that Mail always tries to connect to the internal server only - ignoring the setting in the external server field, even when I'm not in the office network. In our company, we have to use different servers as the external server is not reachable from the company network. The internal URL is used if you are on the internal exchange network at your organization - using the same network.
